We've discussed this; you've given me multiple examples from the Old Testament and one from the New Testament (which I don't agree with). At least you're searching (hopefully not just getting these verses from people or sites that disagree with, as you put it, "organized religion") and I hope that you will continue to search and that God will reveal the truths behind His Word.

Well, thus far I've given you six instances of either murder of calls to murder by God. And the language is clear. The words he uses are 'kill' and 'slay' among others. How much more direct can God get? You also have stories about him doing it. And where does it say in the Bible that God gave the human race ways out of the floods? He flooded the earth and spared Noah's family. Everyone else drowned. Ask a priest. Don't hide behind interpretation when you know the words re right there.

As said before, I disagree with your interpretation of the Word. It appears to me that you've picked a few verses here and there and taken them out of context (again, my opinion) and posted them to get a rise out people. Let us not forget your first post covered in sarcasm. God gave the human race ways out of the flood just as he did with Sodom and Gomorrah. It looks as though you're struggling with the idea of God punishing, so I would venture to recommend "The Case for Faith" by Lee Strobel.

The Bible has further evidence that God kills on a whim. Look no further than the biblical floods. You really have exceptional concentration to be able to research the bible and still be oblivious of the hideous facts about God. You won't admit to yourself that if God had done to your child what he did to other children, you would not be so servile and willing to overlook his brutal murderous past. Picture an all powerful God drowning your child. That is sick, merciless, and cowardly.

longshot: You say "If we assume God is the speaker..."? It is a moral teaching by Jesus about God. Jesus isn't in the business of encouraging worship of false idols. It is abundantly clear from the Scripture that the king is referring to those who did not want me to be king over them. You may prefer to draw some esoteric connection to whatever you please, but the words in the Bible are right in front of you. Give Jesus more credit. I think he would have cited a different reason if he wanted.

Luke 19:11-27 is "The Parable of the Ten Minas." It is similar to the ten talents but Jesus would at times change parts of his teachings to fit different situations. If we assume that God is the speaker (seeing how it's a parable and the quote is said by a ruler) then it most likely refers to the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D 70 and/or could also refer to the final judgement of those who reject Jesus. When we read Scripture we must consider the time at which it was written and the audience...

Did I leave out the New Testament? Okay, here's one: Luke 19:27 "Those who would not have me as their king, bring them here and slay them before me." God doesn't discriminate when he orders people killed, New or Old Testament included. The purpose of my post? Just reminding people how loving, merciful, and just God is. Maybe some people will start to actually read the bible and question the reliability of organized religion.
