I like listening to this song, but it's rather stupid. Most of what they say is babble based on the idea that an ideal society being sitting around strumming guitars, like them, in their pretentious nature. Pretty productive society that would be. Must be pretty cool in their case to sit around wearing 'trendy' clothes and having long hair (taking what they choose from society and throwing out the rest through dismissive lyrics) Try moving to a region that doesn't pride itself on consumption.

Justin is a fantastic song writer, lyricaly brilliant, but i agree that his moodiness, shall we say, stopped him gaining the recognition of being "THE BEST" I would love to hear that they were back together, because Del Amitri are one of the best live bands ever,.

used to love the dels; found justin to be rather irritable and unpredictable the times i met him - sometimes lovely and friendly, other times quite distant and awkward at best, perhaps rude and indifferent at worst. and i also agree that his personality had something to do with the band not breaking bigger; for such a freaking gifted songwriter to be so dourly cynical surely restricted what they were able to accomplish. but the man penned some great tunes.

Love the band. Met them at a music store signing in Boulder, CO. They were all very nice. Justin even asked if my son Stephen spelled his name with a "ph" or a "v". I thought that was pretty good since they had played the night before and looked like they'd rather still be in bed. And the in-store performance was mind blowing.

Only met them once after a horrendous Big Breakfast roadshow in Blackpool. They had to mime Roll to me 4 times while the presenter told the crowd when to clap. I had the same experience only in Chicago, many years ago! It was an instore signing, Harvie was laughing and joking and friendly.I love Del Amitri and think Justin is a terribly underrated songwriter, he was rude and cold, and very sarcastic. He acted like we were going to be totally stalker-like, it was my first and last time to ever want to have a bloody CD signed. We were 2 shy Irish girls. It makes me wonder if it wasn't his crankyness that stopped the band from really hitting big!

I love Del Amitri and am delighted to see so many great clips on here. Saw them in the inauspicious surroundings of Crawley Leisure Centre years ago and they blew me away. I've always thought they deserved much more acclaim than they ever got, and wonder if they would have been more successful if they were breaking through now - somehow their style seems more in vogue these days? By the way, I agree about the horns, absolutely shocking! Del Amitri still rock though...

First saw these guys, by accident at the Borderline in London 20 years ago. Had gone to see some other act who couldn't make it and they were the stand in. Me and my mate were gobsmacked that, at the time, a virtually unknown band could have so many top tunes!! They were awesome that night in front of 200 people max and even better a week later at Goldsmiths college where my mate struck a deal with Justin Currie and danced naked as the played Maggie May!! Happy days indeed and god i miss 'em!!

god love him, but Justin is kind of an ass when it comes to how he handles TV shows, so they refused to appear on the show unless they could broadcast live. so that is indeed Justin singing live easily one of the best live singers I've ever had the joy of listening to. 16 years on he's even better live check out his solo videos on here.

Its not just backing tracks the whole preformance is a recording. Top of the pops is just the singers on a stage pretending to sing while a recording of the song is played. Originally no one knew this was the case until one year the music started but the singers were just sitting still waiting. So any video you see from TOTP or TOTP2 is just a recording of the song.

Sorry ph33 you're wrong. Anyone who's into the Dels is a friend of mine, no matter when they discover them. Album 1 was ok, but their best, hmm, not sure. Maybe you're just one of those 'fans' that falls of the wagon once someone else has heard of your band. While I agree with the two comments previous, I don't believe that anyone's in the wrong for getting into a band later on in the career. There's a huge temptation when you discover a band to keep it to yourself and pretend that you're a niche market but it's just so counter-productive. The bands don't want a small clique of fans, they would in an ideal world have everyone in the world into them. Still, I'm rambling with no forseeable point being made so I'm going to stop now...
