I'm new to this. but I installed MacPython 2.5 on my Mac OSX Leopard 10.5.5, i created a simple app.yaml file and when I try to start the web server it fails, it complains about line 2 column 1 of the app.yaml file. Any ideas?
By: cobrachoppergirl. on 03 Jan 09, 03:32:23
I've just released the Python 4 complier, which supercedes Python 3. Its basically the Python 2.5 compiler, which I simply renamed Python 4.
By: cobrachoppergirl. on 03 Jan 09, 03:30:19
Python 3 is the Python developers saying, hey, we're sorry, we foisted a half baked language on the world, and you learned now to code around its flaws, but now we're going to really screw things up and break half a million programs and tutorials you wrote by coming out with a new version that is in no way backwards compatible. But trust us, this new version isn't garbage! Yeah right, no thank you, we've been through this with other languages. You code a language, you define it for eternity.
By: cobrachoppergirl. on 03 Jan 09, 03:22:49
They should of got it right from the start before foisting a poorly designed language on the world. And its trivial to code into a language an exception for backwards compatibility, to recognize print as print().

omg wtf i know this guy
By: dan46and2. on 09 Dec 08, 22:51:12
No, they expect the average programmer to be able to type that in because they will have some idea what they're doing.
By: dan46and2. on 09 Dec 08, 22:49:39
Sounds like you need to learn some things. This video isn't for "ordinary HUMANOIDs" it's for actual programmers.
By: dan46and2. on 09 Dec 08, 22:24:11
Umm... there's a script to convert prints, it's pretty much a non-issue. The Python3.0 changes are practical, long overdue changes to Python. Sounds like you need to calm down a bit, do some research and, finally, deal with it.
By: cobrachoppergirl. on 05 Dec 08, 21:02:01
FAIL again: this code will not run in Python 3.0, because the maintainers of Python, in their infinite wisdom (bodacious amounts of SARCHASM here - how can these brilliant programmers be so incredibly DAFT and STUPID), decided for no compelling massively reason, to switch up on print, changing it to print(), thereby breaking just about ALL previous Python programs and Python tutorials in existence.
By: cobrachoppergirl. on 05 Dec 08, 20:23:01
FAIL... the google SDK installer does not add paths to the development environment into Windows Vista... following the tutorial verbatin, we crash at the point on the command line: 'google_appengine' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

Is there a plan for it to supply inverse reactive current for use in unilateral phase detractors, which would also be capable of automatically synchronizing cardinal grammeters? I'm sticking with the retro-encabulator until it does.
By: cobrachoppergirl. on 03 Dec 08, 17:18:04
The difference is that you write anything actually innovative *beyond plunking in verbatin their hello world guestbook app*, its a snap for them to rip your code. Its basically a honeypot to catch innovative developer code, like a honeypot used to catch network crackers.

By: maurygreen. on 01 Nov 08, 00:18:00
I know people are going to make fun of me for this, but I think this is too high-end for a Hello World! demo. App Engine is supposed to be a tool to make developing web apps easier - therefore I think there should be some intro resources that takes less for granted. Of course there should still be videos like this for the more experienced...

You don't have to pay for hosting if your app is less than 500 MB, that is 96% of most sites. You will have to learn Python though...I think I will just stick with PHP.
