f�chse sind f�r die ansammlung von mongolismusmi�geburten viel zu edel, das ganze ist eher ein in schweineschei�e und auf m�llhalden mit den schnauzen herumstocherndes rattengesindel. mit ihren fressen in verfaulten eiern und im schimmeligen brot herumstochern ist deren stil, dh sofort den keller unterwasser pumpen und die schei�plage drau�en erschlagen!

Was ich noch sagen muss, wenn ich hier sowas wie Gangsterrap und Fler und Bushido h�re...... eigentlicher Gangsterrap kommt aus AMerika, wo es wirklich Gangs gibt. Wo man wirklich Angst haben muss durch die Stra�en zu ziehen nachts... wir haben in Deutschland eine Ghettos mehr oder sind wir im zweiten Weltkrieg. Ne ernsthaft Leute diskutiert nicht dar�ber wie schei�e jemand ist sondern genie�t alles was von der alten Zeit da ist ;)

No. I have had a number of budget bases including a Squire Affinity P Bass. It has loads of fret buzz because I have the action quite low and am a bit heavy handed with my fingers. Most don't come through the amp. My Warwick was 10 times the price & won't buzz even if I wanted it to and that's with the action so low it looks like the strings are touching. I don't know what's involved in machining the frets to this degree of accuracy but I guess it's time consuming and a reflection of the cost.

It's not the strings. Two issues I can think of (without seeing the bass): 1. Are the strings tuned to correct pitch? 2. Are you really fretting correctly? (This often takes a week or two to get right.) Where are you placing your right hand/plucking hand? If none of the above are relevant, you will have to get someone knowledgeable to look at your bass. This was a cool lesson. I'm a guitar player normally, and I just bought my first bass( Ibanez SR400QM. It's pretty nice. Fast neck. Reason I bought it was because I couldn't find a Nintendo Wii). I'm a guitar player, so I got a huge leg up on a lot of fretting hand stuff, but this is so helpful for my plucking hand.

Thank you very much for the info. I dont know all that much about bass guitars so I had no idea whether it was defected and if I should spazz about it haha. Sadly, it DOES come through the amp, but I notice strumming or picking with less aggresiveness does ease and lower the buzz. If I ever get better and decide to buy a more expensive bass however and it does that, I will certainly follow your aid. In fact, im going to copy and paste it so I can have it for refrence. You might be tempted to get a hex key (allen key) down the hole behind the top nut but it needs an experienced hand. Easy to knacker it. If you bought it from a shop thay should offer an after sales tune-up to encourage returning customers in these credit crunching times. Hope this helps.

If you look down the length of the neck it should be 'close to' perfectly straight. I personally doubt whether a budget bass will have had its frets machined accurately enough to have a perfectly straight and yet buzz free fingerboard. Indeed the slightest slackening of an over-tensioned truss rod can have an amazing effect on how cleaner the fretting becomes. The action will raise a little somewhere on the fingerboard but I find it a worthwhile trade-off. Don't ar$e about with the truss rod.

Indeed this can be a desirable sound giving a degree of analogue, human quality. It might be that a little adjustment of the truss rod is needed. Best to get this done professionally. The truss rod is a tensioned metal rod which runs internally down the neck. It counters the strain being applied by thos tight bass strings which are effectively trying to arch the neck like a bow and arrow. If the truss rod is too tight the it can arch the other way creating a raised part of the fingerboard. More

Not really. You'll notice that once you've fretted a note and are holding it, the distances involved between the string and neighbouring frets (one or two frets further down the neck) are miniscule. The string vibrates very close to these adjacent frets but ideally should never touch them. So any inaccuracy (don't forget the budget price of the Squire) will inevitably result in some vibration causing fret buzz. More often than not these don't come through the amp at all. Mine does the same.

I just recently got a Squier by Fender Jazz Bass for Christmas. It is my very first bass ever and I am getting mini-lessons from my uncle who is also a bass player. I know my bass is a pretty cheap bass, but I cant help too think that I need to get this fixed. Whenever I play certain notes it makes a metal, vibrating "Twanking Sound". I have often witnessed beginner bass players (or their parents!) use a tuner and tune an octave too high - OUCH! You should really be absolutely certain that you are tuning to correct pitch. I used my Marshall MT-1 tuner. No matter what I did, it would not turn green. So I changed it to 1 flat and I managed to get some response. About your bass tuning, the strings should not feel really tight, so it appears as though you are tuning too high; and yes, that could lead to string breakage and warping of the bass neck. Are you Australian George? If so, do you teach at any institutions around Melbourne? Also, I tuned my brand new bass. I noticed that the strings were a bit tight. Are they meant to be tight? yeah some strange feelings in your palm / thumb are common. i'm learning barre chords too and got that especially as i first tried them out. just keep moving your hand into slightly different positions and see if you can find a comfortable way to make them, in combo with practice your hand seems to adjust!

Does anybody feel a odd pinching sensation in their thumb when they try to achieve barre chords? It really bothers me, but if it's NORMAL I'll deal with it. If it's not, then I need to figure out how to prevent that.

Barre chords are very useful because you can basically just shift it up and down the neck and it'll for a respective chord for the bass note you shift to. It makes it very easy to shift between chords, seeing as to how you don't even have to move your fingers to a different position, just slide your hand over.

I've played guitar most of my life and as I was self taught I never learnt barre chords. I often wondered why you would bother doing a barre chord when it is often easier to play a 'normal' chord or non barre chord (not sure what you call it). Please explain!

no such thing as a 'simple' F chord it takes the most finger strength becaause you are barring the fret closest to the neck. kepp trying those 3 barre chords and open chords, also try and get your hands on a finger strengthener device, they do wonders.

For those that don't know, David is a great player, a great teacher, and a very cool guy. If you have an opportunity to drum with him or take a lesson, it's well worth your time. I picked up the instructional DVD's from the website and they are high quality productions with slow-motion clips, great audio, and articulate direction with notation as well. Highly recommended!

jazz bass has a thinner neck... and i think there are more electronics on the jazz bass. i have a jazz bass, but precision basses are cool too.
