When the tank already has fish inside it you should never do that. Since chlorine and the other chemicals in tap water kills fish, the water should be dechlorinated before it is put into the tank.

I got lucky and have a lake in my backyaurd and just cleaned up the sand from our beach and already had 2 smaller heaters which worked as good as 1 big heater and had a 50 gallon tank all I had to but was the filter is only costed me $30.00 for the filter and the fish love it and are mellow

This is my 55 gallon freshwater aquarium, the majority of the fish you see are Swordtails (Marigold and Pineapple). You may spot a few glowlight tetras and eventually, the clown loaches decide they want to be in the video as well.

if you buy a small clown loach and put it in a 10g it should be fine they rarly or never get to full size in captivity (30cm) my one in a 2 ft tank got to arouned 10cm

for a 90 gallon tank i would recommend a weekly cleaning of 10% of the water, you know vacuuming the gravel and what not. and bi-weekly do 25%, including cleaning the filter media, but not with regular water, and test the water weekly for any spikes in chemicals, usually the bigger tanks are easier to maintain healthy, it also depends on your filter, id go canister here.

the first two catfish died (D=). i expected stress and i appear to have been correct because after the first ones died i added two more. they are perfectly healthy and doing very well. now that i have all of the fish it still dosnt seem at all overstocked. i think im going to put a video of my aquarium so you can see for yourself. please watch it as soon as it comes on (it would be easier if you subscribed). please watch! =D

nice set up, but i recommend either re-homing your clown loach, or getting 3 more and getting rid of some of the others, though they will eventually out grow the 55 gal tank. They like to be in as large a group possible

freshwater sump

it�s not very common to see a sump in a freshwater aquarium but after buying one rena filstar xp1 and later a xp3 i still was not very happy with the flow rate and space to put media,so instead of buying filters i decided to make a sump and increase the flow rate with 2 pumps and use the a bigger space to put media,i used a 47 gallon aquarium(180 Liters)

cheese0rdie,the tank that i made in the sump has aproximately 15 gallons and i have seen tanks smaller but the sump was filtering water for a 100 gallon tank (main tank)and i know its not the biggest tank i have ever seen but i would not say that a 100 gallon is "tiny little tank"

integragsr5 ,if you have problems with power,you will end up having problems with either the external filter or the sump,one of the things i liked about the sump i built was the fact that i could put about 3 times the media i used to have in my rena xp3 and use one or two or more pumps to have the flowrate i wanted.How many gallons is your tank?

hi integragsr5,im not the only person who has fish in the sump and,basically,the benefits are,those fish stay alive longer!i built that sump with a special section to be able to house some fish that by some reason dont work so good in the main tank,i might have more fish there just because i have more problematic fish :(

sorry kid but this is not a sturgeon. This is an arapaima or as the native south americans call it a pirarucu. It lives in the amazone river. But it also lives in thailand. If you look closely to the mouth of a sturgeon you'll see it's very different from these fish

A lot of rude replies...The fish is actually a sturgeon and it's body is large, however, it is also "designed" for shallow water. In North America there are large fish such as muskellunge that, when hibernating or pregnant, will go into shallow water for protection. The sturgeon has no natural predators that are in the water where they live, however, giant cats have their own version of a giant fishbowl.

Here is my 56-gallon column aquarium. My tank houses three Columbian Sharks, two Banded Leporinus catfish, one Iridescent Shark, one False Tigrinus (rare) catfish, one beautiful Jack Dempsey cichlid, one Hypostomus Plecostomus, one Freshwater Flounder and a shy Freshwater Marble Mooray Eel. This tank is actually brackish and these fish are ultimately going into a 220 gallon aquarium.

i was thinkin abou a cray fish and 2 irredecent sharks for in my aquarium with a jackdempsey. it would be like your blood parrot but be able to protect itself, unlike your blood parrot which got stuck inside the ID shark's mouth. i lov your aquarium. it is so natural. naturally there will be fights. and the knife fish is a clown not a royal. maybe the petstore people were rong but it was very nice....until it got half eaten by the shark then killed by the crayfish. wat kind of crab is it?
