This band is very interesting in terms of how quickly yet effectively their music changed from Glam Rock to New Wave/New Romantic/Prog-Rock. Their clothing style even changed as well. The most interesting thing though, which not to downplay the others, would be David. He became though an original in his own right, a cross between David Bowie and Bryan Ferry, having Bowie's look and clothing style, while singing in the crooning style that Ferry is a master of.

I always got the impression that they had no following in USA at this time. They were very similar to New York Dolls? (I always hear) so maybe the thought was that they were a British version and you already had your own. Anyway, cool that you liked and still like them. I have been a fan since the Quiet Life album which I heard in mid 1980 I think. I thought this is SO different, which is why I liked it. No one I knew seemed to get them, which was perfect really.

I have enjoyed much of Miller's work, and see it as approaching a pinnacle of the graphic novel while sticking to the established boundaries. Moore, however, is in a different league: he pays little heed to convention and as a result is responsible (not quite, but almost, single-handely) for expanding and improving the genre. Not only has he mastered the graphic novel, but expanded it into new areas.

See? That's what I don't understand. This whole hoopla over Sin City. C'mon. We're talking about a man that really has no big aspirations for comics. He has no way of pushing the medium forward. I'm not trying to call anybody a fanboy, but Sin City is too dumb for words, and I'm sorry, satire can only go so far before it breaks under its weight, and in 10 (or so) books that's exactly what happens. Also, Samuel Fuller did more justice to the genre (in film) than someone like Frank could ever do.
