this review sux! I mean... yes the game could be alot better, but its not THAT bad! I Liked the characters alot. just because they are not some sort badass antihero doesn't mean that they are unlikeable! =/ I think this game would have been better as a movie! because I personally thought the story rocked... bad review indeed. did you guys notice that almost all the footage are taken from the first level?! bet he didn't even play through the whole game...

I'd give it a 4 just for the crappy gameplay mechanics.... the controls don't work at all and it's really hard to do anything in this game, even your basic running is so damn frustrating and uncomfortable. No matter how good the story is, if a game is this bad to play it's just not fun. Anyway, it's a good idea and I hope they try again and make a proper game with a similar theme.

yeah i just bought this game and i found it to be pretty amusing...especially when you start it off on the "morphine" difficulty(which is the hardest difficulty)...the only thing i didnt like were the frag grenades...they have to be placed like literally under a cop or bad guy for them to kill them...if its just a few feet away from them it'll just blow up lol. but other than that good game...7.5 outta 10 :)

This game was not terrible. I would rate it an 7.5. The cover mechanic is annoying, it glitches quite a bit but the co op is fun, and I found the story mode pretty intresting. Gamespot is not credible source to trust

Jeff Gerstmann deserved to be fired. He reviewed Halo 3 and scored it a 9.5. Pfft, Halo 3 is the most overrated game of all time and it's nothing more than a average FPS. It dumb downed FPS with it's regenerating health system. Ben Yahtzee Croshaw > Halo 3

Giant bomb looks like it could be really awesome. They'll have like, encyclopedia like entries for everything game related. And all the pages will show you things related to it, so the Miyamoto page will link to the Nintendo page and the Mario page and so on. It makes alot of sense how he was fired just after he landed a review infact saying in his video review "rent this" as apposed to buying it. And this review came out just at the time the publisher was paying mega mullah for advertisements and they were trying to sell their initial copies. Fuck a reviewer! They are giving their opinion, and opinions are like assholes; everybody has one, even if they are getting paid to do it! You should never let a reviewer be the final word as to whether or not you buy a game! Form your own opinion about it, not someone elses. Still, what happened to Jeff Gertsmann was wrong, and Gamespot should be ashamed of themselves for letting money control their actions.

Lol. Gaming isn't for "nerds". But it is for a specific crowd of people. When you start making games for casual gamers, your games start sucking. Then you try making games for both casual gamers and hardcore gamers. Here's the difference: Hardcore gamers prefer HARDCORE, CHALLENGING GAMES THAT CASUAL GAMERS COULD NEVER POSSIBLY PLAY. Casual gamers prefer almost every type of game as long as the difficulty isn't too severe.

Wow, This guy could make sex itself seem dull. Is he high? I never really found this game to be repetitive, and there are only a few places in the game I can remember where you HAVE to be stealthy. Killing multiple Alpha sections can be hard, but it's far from impossible. I liked this game a lot. The only thing that really annoyed me in it was that the camera sometime seemed like it was rebelling against my demands.

Lol... first of all: Alan Wake has nothing to do with IOI. 2nd: Most developers who have their own engine always upgrade their old one. Quake 4 and Quake Wars feature the Doom 3 engine, the Half-Life 2 Episodes use the HL2 engine and Mass Effect still uses an upgraded MDK2 engine! So what's your point? I agree, K&L was a rush (caused by Eidos) but the game still is great and now seriously: The first levels suck but Japan and Kuba simply look fantastic. Think more before you write such shit.

I agree with you. But those official reviewers' job is to give us a perspective that helps us decide whether to pay for a game or not. But Gerstmann didn't give the viewers of K&L such an option. He did anything to prevent the viewers and readers from playing K&L and that's simply not doing his job. I've seen five other reviews of K&L and all of them were quite positive while also mentioning the aspects some players might not like. This just confirms that Jeff is an unprofessional reviewer.

Screw the multiplayer part - I didn't even try playing multiplayer and still I love this game. And according to his review nobody can enjoy the game while most people I know (including me) had no problems with the controls, the story, the graphics, the music, the voice acting or anything. And this means that there must be at least some good things about the game (while I think that almost everything is great about it) but Jeff didn't point out any of them. Why? He was behaving like a pussy in the K&L review! A reviewer's job is to describe a game's content while rating it so that someone knows the big deal about it but he just sat there pissing on the disc! (not literally - I hope...)

This is why video games are so hard to place as an art. I can't say games don't earn it but i can say not all games deserve to be called art. We are usually limited in some form or another that sets our imagination apart from the rest of the forms of expression, so we lose a lot of the ability to - whats the word here? - Perceive the world as we want to because theres a damn game to code, act and capture voice for. So much is lost in the translation we have a hard time calling it art.

Books are given the power of our own personal perspective. No one can really tell you what the gals look like in Wheel of Time. The writer gives you a description but chances our what you and the other ten readers imagine are different. We get to imagine what the world is like in a written book. In video games the writers are limited by deadlines much worse off then script writers for a screen play oh and then they have technological troubles with the way they get to portray their world.

Movies are designed to take us along for the ride we invest in.. The melancholy tones in Silent Hill's movie, or the "Don't tread on me" in Shoot 'em Up.. They are all assisted with the fact that the viewer usually is entirely subject to lots of different styles in writing, visual stimulation and things that video games just have a near impossible time replicating.

Heres what i am thinking after all these long ass posts. Sadly i can't take my thoughts and string them out among a couple dozen comment entries. When i buy any video game - in general - i expect a level of interactivity not found in movies and the arts of literature. Lets face it, Choose Your Path story books just don't cut it. We want to carry our selves and our protagonist through the world with our agenda or at least an agenda that makes some damn sense to us.
