They only added that for the 2nd season. In the first they weren't considered "important" enough to be in the opening song, but when the redid the song for the next season they decided to mention the professor and Mary Anne. Irritating isn't it? They ought to have named them in the theme song from the start.

Actually I got to correct myself, the Professor and Mary Ann got added mid-season first season to the theme, so that isn't a change from season 1 to 2. For confirmation on that check out any of the spanish versions of Gilligan (on the island of gillian) as the show gets named there, and the black 'n white season one has the Professor and Mary Ann cued as this clip does.

That's the lyrical change, but the minnow sign actually gets a different color than what was even painted in the season 1 (BW season), as the sign in the original season was actually white and black (those were the painted colors as they came up the best on the cameras used at the time.) As well as the minnow on the boat going from black to blue. :)

Visited my hip cousins in Bay area, 1980: Highlights: Got saved, Baptist Rock Climbers in Yosemite; saw punk band competition (fish hooks in skin, etc. etc.) And HEARD Led Zepplin had been deflated by a parody and had sued, so I couldn't get the disk. Ah, You Tube-- Like Gutenberg (sp?) press, freeing the masses! If Zepplin really sued, I think it showed they NEEDED some "deflating!" But we sure liked to dance to the slow part, didn't we, in high school, til fast riff began & tore us all apart.

Because it was on a Zep bootleg........the rumors flew around among the stoner kids that it was Jimmy Page singing, all kinds of theories. Wow, very well done. I'm a huge fan of Lost and to see the producers use some of these themes that were in Gilligan's is great, especially the hatch and the smoke coming from another part of the Island. You have to tell me that those numbers were dubbed in though, that would be too hard to believe, lol. Loved it!

Tina auditioned under the mistaken impression SHE was gonna be the star. She was pretty pissed off when reality dawned she raised a fuss. But her contract required her to finish the series. So in her case she apparently didnt know what she was in for. I think she just veiwed Ginger as just a job, not the defining point of her career. The Gnats were horrible. The Mosquitoes were sort of a horrible parody of many 1960's American garage rock/proto-punk bands & are sort of memorable as a curiousity attempt by "Gilligan's Island" & CBS to nod at the fact that those real/honest garage rock/proto-punk bands, such as the Seeds or the Standells were changing pop/rock music. The Honeybees, seen here, were actually quite good & I could easily see them (including Mrs. Howell) compete w/ many real (non-TV) girl groups of the 1960's.

How can you compare Bonanza with gilligan? Bonanza was on the main land and they could buy new clothing. Sure most of the time they wore the same clothing but maybe they liked that style, not because they had to wear them. Get your facts straight. And don't say ALL shows did that. its also funny how extra ball is called BONUS BAll in this game. Instead of being used right after you lose your current ball, it is used when all your other balls are gone. So if the setting is 3 balls per play, the DMD will say BALL 4 when your BONUS BALL is used.
