I agree with u up to a point..I haven't listened to Heavy Horses,I've only listened up to Songs From The Wood, and of course Broadsword which is clearly an 80s sound, more pop hard rock ballad sort of a sound..good but I think the hardcore yrs of Tull were '68 to '75 til the Minstrel..cheers

Tull's swan song was a trilogy of sorts...the Songs From The Wood,Heavy Horses and Stormwatch LP's have a very distinct and interlocking flavor to them. The drumming is very "heavy metal",if you will; as with the arrangements and Barre's choice of guitar sound and attack. I was always a big fan up until the "A" album where they lost me. They almost reeled me back in with the Broadsword And The Beast LP but I had already moved on to hardcore punk by that point. Oh well,always a fan...........

The interviews were in 1979 probably but there's no possible way that the show could've been in '79 as poor John (Glascock, certainly not Evan) was dead by then. He didn't tour with them in 78 either, so it had to have been 77 or earlier.

Hey chosenfool, In recent weeks I've decided that "From a Deadbeat..." and "One White Duck" aren't such bad songs if I'm in a calm and quiet mood. I've heard more of Rock Island, Catfish Rising and Roots to Branches and came to some conclusions. "Kissing Willie" is kind of fun on occasion but still pretty dumb, "This is Not Love" is too poppy hard rock but I love "Rocks on the Road" (got to hear that one at Red Rocks) and I really like "Roots to Branches and "Beside Myself".

HAH People don't like to hear that the new Tull is a shadow of its former self. Reality sucks. Just watch the old videos and new side by side and you too will be clear. I miss Old Tull. But I also miss driving my Mach I and 75 cent gas. Ahhhh the 70's. Whomever loves new Tull, you just have no idea how good it used to be. Like I said... go watch the vids of the 70's and then watch the very recent ones. Vids of their shows in the 70's are amazing. You WILL see the difference.

While I have loved pretty much all Tull players, I believe all ardent fans would agree, the 2 biggest mistakes in Tull history would be the sacking of John Evan, how ever inadvertent, and allowing Barrie Barlow to become unhappy enough that he wanted to leave. Jeffrey was just goin, there was no stopping him, same w Clive B, honorable mention to Cornick and Peggy in the irreplacable department.

Yes, Ian is always fascinating QoHV! Thanks for the titbit too! I have to smile at the comment one rock journalist made of Ian years ago: "Ian will never use one word when twelve can be used instead." or something along those lines. But Tull fans love his loquaciousness because he is so well spoken, and entertaining! However I would certainly hate to be on the opposite end of an argument with him! I remember something funny he said about Martin on a BBC RADIO interview, from March 1979, called THE JETHRO TULL STORY: "I always saw Martin, at least on the album cover, as being the one who ought to appear to be skating away, because he's fairly optimistic about things and bravely ventures into them like ... paying over the odds for a second-hand Bentley or whatever and finding out it doesn't work properly, there's no engine inside it or something."

On John Evan- "Someone once gave him a duck. He carried it and took it with him everywhere. Someone must have trodden on it because it had a broken leg.
