HUH? Very FEW tomatoes are genetically modified right now! MOST are "hybrids" which is NOT a genetic modification! However, about 90% of SOY is genetically modified and nearly as much feed corn is also - so if you are eating grain-fed beef ... good luck to your intestinal microbia.

Not necessarily: Hybrid means they have crossbred 2 kinds of tomatoes. The 2 kinds could have been natural or genetically modified. The chance that at least one of the kinds was modified is quite high though, since most of the tomatoes are genetically modified nowadays. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. GM food is often healthier than natural food.

At this point, I don't think it's logical to really argue for or against genetic engineering because we don't have substantial LONG-TERM studies. And whether or not it caused health problems in the case of L-tryptophan does not necessarily mean it's harmful in ALL cases. We really need to conduct some long-term studies before we put too much effort into arguing for or against it.

O REALLY then y do the legitimate studies show vast differences between the affects of GM and non-GM foods. One study using Flavr Savr Tomatoe fed rats showed that within 2 weeks they had developed lesions in their stomach and 7/40 died. Another done by Arpad Pusztai where rats ate GM potatoes showed that the rats suffered from immune, brain and reproductive organ damage. Look it up, or read seeds of deception get your facts straight before u make any comments on the subject.

Your research sound sounds interesting would you care to cite any sources? And I think you may be mistaken "normal" tomatoes are picked before they are ripe, while they are still firm, so that they ship better. Then once they reach the store they are sprayed with a chemical, which mimics the ripening enzyme that the tomato would normally receive from the tree. While their bioengineered counterparts have the levels of the enzyme, which breaks down sugars, causing spoilage, reduced.

The modifications of a organisim's genetic structure are minute, only accentuating or diminishing the effect of genetic traits wich already present in the organism. It is not as if we are splicing animal and plants together for fun, genitic modifications are made with a level of consideration and precision wich is uncommon among any other indrustry.

I have a GMO banana hanging from a string outside my window. I heard that placing it beside my hummingbird feeder would attract flies & help to attract hummingbirds. It's 82 degrees today. The banana has been there for 4 days & so far not a single fly has even landed on it. It's the same as with my margarine experiment (which is plastic); flies avoid it. I also know too that geese avoid GMO field crops. BTW, we haven't seen a honeybee around our house now for about a year. Monsanto/GMO is death.

I bought romaine lettuce that had a plastic taste and consistency. I didn't like it and threw it out. I didn't know anything about GMOs when this happened a few months ago. When they mentioned this in the video, I remembered the lettuce I ate and now know it was GMO.

We need to tell our legislators, first, that the current restrictions on plant and animal research (pertaining to development of GMO/GE foods) are much too loose for an adequate level of public safety. We can't prosecute for things that are not yet a crime. Yes, I agree - it is not a long stretch to call what is going on now "bio-terrorism" and we've allowed it to happen to ourselves. i've been thinking on this GMO crap happening and I've decided that anyone affiliated with the release of GMO's into our environment should be prosecuted. Cross-pollination isn't a myth. Yes, it is a hard life. Policy change must happen to protect these (relatively) small organic growers from legislation which protects the larger (subsidized) operations. Clarification about CORN SYRUP HFCS (High-Fructose Corn Syrup) contains a naturally-occuring enzyme which fools our body's normal "I'm done" sensor. Avoid it and protest the broad use of it, and producers will use less of it or switch to regular sugars. This has been accomplished in other countries - we can do it, too. Processing of HFCS "kills" most of the bad GMO, so far as we know (right now...). Small comfort, I know. Read books by Jeffrey M. Smith and be ALERT!!

Clarification on "DUST" from GMO produce from the farm: The "DUST" that Lee refers to is grain dust or friction-"flour" left over from transferring the product from field to processor. The GMO-laden dust must be CLEANED from the trucks and from any other equipment that may eventually be used to move NON-GMO products, else the testing facility may find the remains of GMO dust in every load - in this case, the tarp alone held enough dust to cause the sensors to mark the ORGANIC load as GMO.

Thank you to all the Organic Farmers who care enough about our food sources to try and preserve it. Yes we must at least have GMO products labeled. Most people do not have any idea that they may be consuming GMO. Public Education is mandatory to protect our food sources in this country.

Im against the patenting of seeds, however, there is nothing wrong with gm technology. It is only there to help. Also, GM foods are not all the same and your claim that they are all dangerous has no basis. It is true that some GM food have been unsafe for human consumption. However, thats because of the gene that was put in. Of course, if a gene that encodes for toxins are put in, then it will be unsafe to eat. On the other, genes for vitamin A would be perfectly safe.

Who is going to bring new technology to poor nations if not global companies? Not the local governments. Not the UN. Not the universities. Get real. Unless seed companies help farmers get access to new technologies, they will continue to use oxen and hoes to grow crops. Not all farmers will adopt technology, just like EU and US.
