Besides this being the best revival of a classic musical, you must look at the body of work which Patti has produced throughout her career. She is an actress first, so if you don't like this performance, perhaps it is because you don't like Momma Rose. If you want to hear her voice, listen to Anything Goes, Evita, Sunset Blvd, Patti LuPone Live, The Lady with the Torch, etc. If you want to see her act, watch Life Goes On, or one of the many movies she has made. Her talent is undeniable.

I am not one who wants to perform. I don't even do any school plays, I am a techy! Really, I don't care about performing. Oh, two awards. Can that bet The Producers 12 tony awards? How about Hairspray with 8 tonys? Harvey can belt out this song with more glamour than that LuPone. She has the Worst acting EVER. In The Heights blew Patti right out of the theatre! Curtain down! Dim the lights! Two awards, ha! If I wanted to belt out crap 8 shows a week, I would be auditioning, and am I? Nope.

Are you being serious? Listen love, this is one of the greatest broadway stars of all time, up there with Ethel Merman and Bernadette Peters! If not better, I suggest you keep you bitter, twisted comments to yourself you jealous little person. I would love to see you get up on that stage 8 shows a week and belt this out the way Patti does, because trust me, it's always as good as the last! And by the way, 2 Tony Awards and most of Broadway would disagree with you!

I wasn't fond of her at first but wanted to know what the hype is all about. So I went to see Gyspy on my last trip to NYC and at the end of act one I realized why. She might not have the sweetest voice on Broadway, but she's truly an all-around performer and a genuine triple-threat. What I loved most about her performance was her acting. She's a biatch throughout the show but you'll cry for her at the very end.

I HATE PATTI! She is terrible. I don't care what you say. I am a LBB or Harvey guy! Not this woman.... uggghhh. She has a smokers voice! I want Liza Minelli. People are clapping for the song, it really doesn't matter who is performing it, the song is famous, even though it really sucks. Ethel Merman was my favorite Mamma! I just got back from this! It was amazing! One of the plates in "Wherever we go" landed in the audience, and Laura Benanti stopped the show and asked the guy if he was alright. Then the whole audience started laughing and cheering and all three broke character and were laughing, it was brilliant.

I recall an interview with a reporter who reminisced about a press conference with Gypsy. She was demurely dressed but, all through the questions and answers, very slowly unbuttoned one of her elbow length gloves. At the end of the session his notebook was blank.

If you get a chance to visit the "STRIPPER'S HALL OF FAME" in Helendale, California pls check it out! It is run by Jennie Lee, the BAZOOM GIRL who danced from 1949-1962. She was also billed as the MARILYN MONROE OF BURLESQUE. There are many costumes from other strippers. I.E. a bubble machine, feathered fans, costumes, gloves, fancy shoes, head dresses, huge bouncing balls to dance behind and much more. Helendale is a little community in San Bernardino, CA about an hr away from L.A.

I wonder if anyone else noticed that the way they play the instruments does not always match the sound, especially at the organ/keyboard solo. Same for the singing, especially in the case of "Sunrise" from this concert. If you're a musician, you spot these a lot more easily. Bands often re-sing, re-play, remix and remaster some parts for the DVD release, and sometimes it's noticeable, like here. Nevertheless, Uriah Heep is fantastic and I hope they'll be playing for decades!

With all due respect to ff2832-I think you got the order mixed up. I wasn't there but I highly doubt Cinderella was the warmup act to Poison and Faster Pussycat!! They are a headliner band! I saw them two years ago with Ratt and Firehouse and Quiet Riot. Those three bands got us all pumped for THE band of the night-CINDERELLA!! I may be wrong but I think the only tour Cinderella warmed up on was their first tour when they opened for Bon Jovi. Since that time they've gotten top billing.

I consider myself very lucky to have been in my 20's and single back in the 80's. I saw these guys with Bon Jovi! They blew the fucking roof off the 5 Seasons Center! Well, I�m not sure. I live in Spain, and here gypsy people have their own language (I guess they speak it in other countries). "rom" means "man" or "husband" and "romi", "woman" or "wife". If you call them Romani you are speaking in their language, and if you use Gypsy, you�re using yours. "Gitanos" is the Spanish word.

To be honest though, there are different gyspie peoples...romanie etc I don't think orginate there. But people from northern India can be pretty light skinned (well alot of Gypsie aren't exactly light skinned anyway) and the dances they do and clothes they wear are very similar. I would say they can trace the origins of these cultural apparel and dances much further back in India. Although, it is probably difficult to trace gypsie history far back, because of their nomadic nature...

FOTHERINGAY was an interesting tansition point between FC and Sandy's solo career, combining elements of what made FC so great (particlarly during the legendary days Sandy and Richard Thompson were part of the band), while expeimenting with things that she would continue to explore during her forthcoming solo career...AWESOME! One thing tho, is she wearing her bathrobe onstage? ;-)

Sure, comp versions are better quality, but this video, one of very few from this era, is raw and captures the essence of Sandy. Conway is fun to watch as well. I love the groove of this version. It's hypnotic.

Totally agree with Danny Howell. The Gypsy Davey on the new Fotheringay 2 album released a couple of weeks ago is the same track to be found on Sandy's Boxful of Treasures compilation. And it's a pale shadow of this clip. The band is more to the fore here and Jerry Donahue's solo steals the show. Conway is really getting it on too. Lucas is strangely anonymous - just as well with that hair ! But I agree that the rawness makes this superior to the studio version. But this is true of all gd bands!

It's allmost "painful" to listen to this, one among many, Uriah Heep masterpiece... I remember when it came out. I was 15 years old and was blown away, like so many others, by their warm, dreamy, massively heavy rock songs, owerflowing with energy. These guys, with Davids sensual and beautiful voice, knew how to create "landscapes' of sound to explore.. They took us for a ride into their dreamscapes, of pure magic... and the lyrics.. AWESOME!!!
