Satriani's thing is more complicated, but he followed the tracks of jimi hendrixs' train - plus, satriani have had an loooong carrer. Can't imagine another rock guitarist EVER topping this performance...the only player on par with Hendrix is Eric Johnson. I saw the Experience Hendrix concert and Johnson was the best guitarist there, period. But his performing is really plain jane, still a very cool artist that owes a lot to Hendrix. Yea, no offense to Page, but Page/Hendrix isn't close. Jimi 'made' the electric guitar. Nobody except for Cream was experimenting with fuzz at the time. It was just a louder acoustic guitar, and fuzz was a mistake. Enter Jimi. The next 30 years was fuzz. Electric guitar is equated with distortion, pedals, and effects, and Jimi was the pioneer. Not just rock, but heavy metal, blues, funk: all were touched. Anyone who jacks up the gain on their amp can thank Jimi for making distortion awesome.

thats a ridiculous statement...There's no such thing as 'better' anyway but I'd say Page, Beck, Townshend, Angus, Hank Marvin, Dick Dale, Nokie Edwards, Ritchie Blackmore and many many more are just as good. Townshend is a much 'better' songwriter IMO and Angus Young has more rock energy and Page is a better producer/songwriter/recording engineer...There's too many variables to say whos better at what or whatever. Is Bach 'better' than Mozart? Chopin 'better' than Beethoven?
