I'm trying to understand what's really controversial about this video. It seems that Denny Klein isn't making any extravagant claims about getting something for nothing here - nowhere does he state that he can yield more energy from the whole process than is put in. The only problems I see are at 1:10, where the narrator says "The source of HHO's energy is...water" (probably overeager PR copywriters), and the poster's title, which includes the phrase "alternative to fossil fuels". Comments?

I appreciate your enthusiasm. However, it isn't heat that does the reaction, its a byproduct. Water electrolysis does not convert 100% of the electrical energy into the chemical energy of hydrogen. The process requires more extreme potentials than what would be expected based on the cell's total reversible reduction potentials. This excess potential accounts for various forms of overpotential by which the extra energy is eventually lost as heat.

ok i think i made a Mental picture of whats going on in the reaction. HHO gas means there is one atom of hydrogen interacting with OH, or the gas relies on 2 independent hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom close together in gas state. the atoms have extremely different properties in each configuration. this is amazing stuff.

What's the burn rate of Hydrogen(gas) vs Gasoline(liquid)? If you look up the info on HHO Generators/Cells you can see you don't produce more than your gas tank. You mix in the hydrogen with your fuel line, and in essence are burning a mixed fuel. These cells aren't made to produce only hydrogen to run your car, they just reduce the amount of gasoline being used while increasing efficiency to your engine.

Critics aren't willing to spend the money to do this. Critics aren't the ones even trying to find someone with the application installed in another's car. I've seen it, and plan on building my own. The alternator in your car is what keeps the flow of energy constantly recharging the battery, while having energy to spare. That spare energy is what electrolyzes the water to separate into the HHO to feed into your fuel line as a mixed fuel with the gasoline. Using less gas = more mpg.

I went to home depot got 3 ss outlet plates placed a larger thick rubberband between the plates on its side used one piece of tape to hold it together used a coleman refrigerator power supply and a 12 volt plug in neg on center plate positive on outter plates did a half ass assembly and this worked small amount of salt some dish soap to contain some of the gas in bubbles and got a match and it was blowing out the match unbeliveable how easy this is and very powerful. Cleaned my coffee cup too.

do you make the hydrogen in your car with the car battery for power? I though hydrogen fullfills the same role as a battery: an energy carrier. You make it at home or somewhere else where there is electrical energy available. Then you put it in a tank and get energy again by letting the hydrogen react. I understand that it will be cheaper to make hydrogen an use that instead of gasoline and that you wont have co2 emissions but that was not what I was trying to say.

Thats actually only partially true, the water is broken apart by electrolysis usually run off of a car battery, though oxygen cannot be compressed into a liquid like gas it is 3 times as volitile, you do not technically gain energy however speaking in terms of installing a hho generator in your car, at the very least you will cut down on emissions and usually get better milleage plus water is FAR cheaper then gasoline.

you put energy in the water to make it hydrogen and oxygen gas, then you gain the energy back by burning the hydrogen, so you have no net win of energy, you will even lose some energy because energy is lost during the proces. at the same time, the government isnt too likely to go after people making HHO gas as it's on-demand (and not as usable as a weapon, except when stored in mass quantities). Nuclear however.. in any situation (low energy or not) the government (at least here in the states) would not be very happy w/ enthusiasts doing this at home.. and with the terrorism and environmental concerns, you'd probably be looking at fines at the very least.. possibly jail time or worse if they wanted to im sure..

The only "critical" spec is that the stainless be non-magnetic. Anything 300 series will produce HHO. Different grades (304, 316, 316L, etc) and electrolyte coombinations affect efficiency. They do not generally degrade.

No offense, but I believe MrSalty placed his pipework with too much constriction giving a huge amount of vacuum space even with it at idle. ZFF is only constricting a little and is placed before the butterfly, so at idle, it shouldn't even add but the TINIEST bit of vacuum. A bubbler between the cell and the engine should also condense most of the water vapors before entering the engine, or maybe even multiple bubblers 'T'ed off to reduce the primary pressure of the tank itself.

Hydrogen can be compressed without oxygen and transported safely because without oxygen, it's not combustable. It is then mixed with air at the point of combustion. Hydrogen compressed WITH oxygen (HHO) is a time bomb waiting to level an entire city block. Bad Idea.

Hey, look. I don't mind paying my fair share to fund public services. But the Gov't is going to have to create new revenue models to keep it afloat. Pay by the mile is being toyed with but using GPS to track it is too intrusive. Wireless odometer readings at designated checkpoints may be a compromise, like utility companies do now to take meter readings of KW/Hr usage only in reverse.

hello, Great work. I saw this video in Canada that they can run 100% HHO gas on an engine. Anyway, why can't we built a tank that storage the hho gas that can run about 3 hours on an engine and then swap it when it is running out? This way while we wait for HHO gas ran out on the tank running we can produce it the second one. So can we do that ZFF? Current that how the gas engine are like that. Since car can only run about 3-5 hours before we can refill.

wow, how many plates r u using on the cell, i wanna see what 1.2 liters per minute looks when it bubbles!! that would be sick if you had a video of it producing 1.2 LPM. And a brief update on the EFIE. I've been running at 150mV offset initially. Not nearly enough. MPG gains are barely noticable at this setting. Reason? If you examine the O2 sensor voltage curve chart you will see there's a large voltage swing within a very tight mixture range at 14.7:1. A tiny offset has almost no impact on mixture. 300-450mV is the range I will now be focusing on. My HHO output is 1.2 LPM @22A input, 13.6V or 300W.

even if you put restriction on the air intake, the exhaust downstream sensor is still going to "think" that there's too much air going into the intake as the only biproduct of burning HHO is steam which has a lot of oxygen. so you need to control the air fuel mixture yourself manually. you can set it so its not trying to put more gas in and instead of the gasoline, you can use HHO.

I calculated that you are producing about 31 liters per hour (LPH). If you were using 135W, that will make 135/31 = 4.36W/LPH. If you were 100% efficient, that would only be 2.16W/LPH... so you are about 50% Faraday efficient at the moment. Mostly they never get more than 80%. So you should get down to 85W for 31 LPH or get about 50 LPH for 135W of power. That will maybe be the best that can be done. Excess amount of power will only produce heat and no gas. Regards.

BMW has been running some experimental hydrogen cars for years now, but they are not as efficent as petrol cars.(cleaner they are) you can't use any more oxygen in the fuel mix, because it would melt the engine. hydrogen bomb is a nuclear fusion reaction, which is not controlled and has to have previous explosions to get the energy required to fuse atoms. so while a gas tank would make a proper explosion, it would not be a hydrogen bomb.

When you use stainless steel, you produce hydrogen gas (H2), oxygen gas (O2) and HEXAVALIENT CHROMIUM (aka Erin Brokavich's claim to fame). This stuff is a VERY nasty heavy toxic metal. 1ppm in drinking water is unsafe. A rubber washer that you use on drain plugs are like a couple bucks (or even free if you know the right mechanic). Drill a hole JUST big enough for the threads to go all the way in, then use the plugs on both sides as washers, a nut on the other side will keep that thing nice and tight, and leak-free without waiting another day for marine stuff to dry =)

certo certo non potevo farmi scappare zerofossilfuel ;) cmq sul diesel rende benissimo anche xk� il motore � piu' robusto.. 1 consiglio se la rua macchina funziona con iniezione elettronica devi assolutamente installare un map/maf ehnancer che praticamente inganna il sensore ossigeno della tua macchina,che altrimenti compensa aggiungendo gasolio andando a farsi benedire il nostro risparmio di carburante..

Use an old Techumsa. They have points under the flywheel, you can retard the timing. Or use a Kohler motor. They run the points off the camshaft. No wasted spark. For Briggs, look at gokarting catalogs. Find an advance key and put it in backwards. That will retard the timing as well. Your self conscience too. Get over it. Don't explain yourself. Fuk them.

Zero: Most all the major conversion work is done by selecting a small engine that was designed with a pto shaft (snow blowers and rotto tilers), this shaft is just a cam shaft extension with a pulley on it. Just remove the beaker lobe, points, or pickup from under the flywheel and move it to this pto shaft, the mag can stay on the flywheel, then make some sort of cover. WaLa the second or waste spark is gone.

In the early 1900's while designing these small engines, manufactures didn't care or even know about pollution, timing off the crank was just simpler to do and the second spark was of no concern with gasoline. Zero, Did you check to see at what degree of rotation the intake valve starts to open? Some manufactures setup the cam to start opening intake the valve a few degrees ATDC to draw a slight vacuum in the cylinder to facilitate a higher velocity air flow over the venturi in the carb. By doing this they can use smaller carb bores and jets. This is done to achieve better fuel economy. If this the case on your motor, you shouldn't need to worry about the waste spark

Same idea as other's comments of easier way. On off switch from hot lead of ignition. Cam-finger-or whatever just before it fires second time will be off. I had to log in to tell you my opinion on this. I think it is not an efficient design. Electricity flows through the path of least resistance. The only path that the electricity has is thru water. The path your electricity is taking is between the edges of the helix. The electricity is not "swooshing" around or anything. It is just jumping from one edge of a "helix" to the other. I think you are producing the same effects if you were using stainless wires. It's just what I think...

Don't forget to adjust your oxygen sensor, air/fuel ratios and ignition timing. You may need to replace the sensor with a special one. The ignition timing would need to be tuned (not calculated) due to the adjustments (inc. the hydrogen fumigation) altering the air and fuel flow patterns in the combustion chamber and essentially altering the combustion pressure. I guess this tuning would be done by most car computers but the o2 sensors need replacing. cont...

Your equipment is inefficient. To my knowledge, you need a large surface area and close proximity of anode and cathode. I think that is far more advantageous than using thick plates. In that container, you could probably fit 2 dozen thinner plates (12 anode cathode pairs), such as in batteries. Maybe the salt makes up for this though, I'm not sure. I think that dry cells are more efficient and I would assume they'd be easier and safer in cars. continued...

Well, you know what is interesting; I decided to do a little research and, with my equation it seems that; (2)NaCl+(2)H2O => (2)HCl+Na2O would then cause; Na20+H2O => (2)NaOH My belief, is that this final yield of Sodium Hydroxide would cause people to believe that there is more chlorine gas being produced than HCl Also in order for the production of Cl2 the solution must be saturated, which, a dash of table salt wouldn't even come close to doing. So I think more, if anything, we are both wrong

You ARE right about the HCl... sort of. The electrolysis will probably produce some minute amonuts of HCl, but not much. The hydrogen bonds with itself if it has nothing else to bond with, so after the electrolysis of the salt occurs, you are left with only the electrolysis of water, which then produces hydrogen. It won't produce chlorine gas but it will produce sodium oxide, which is just as bad

But electrolysis of water(be it salt-water or not) will result in production of H2(hydrogen gas). Period. You HAVE to include it on the product side. The loud pop you hear is because Hydrogen burns really really fast. You really are not releasing much energy. So the sound is deceiving. It is fun to play with. be careful about adjusting the fuel mix on your car. It can damage the valves and pistons. You seem really handy with figuring out how to test things. Maybe you can figure out a safe way to test hydrogen in a cyclinder with out it being on your car. Good luck with it. Not saying that it won't work here. Just bge carful.

An example of this can be seen in towing a trailer. My truck driven empty gets 16 mpg and weighs about 4,000 pounds. When I tow my camper weighing 7,000lbs I get 8-10 mpg. This means I can tow 2.5 times the weight and only use 2 times the gas. This is where efficiance comes into play. A IC engine is most effeciant when under a load. The same goes for alternators for that matter. Converting the electicity to HP 400watts is only about 1 hp. So at best we are looking at 1% extra load.

Some things to keep in mind. One ltr of pure Hydrogen gas contains only 9.54 btu's. One gal of gas contains about 115,000 btu's. At best most HHO gens create about 2 ltr per minute. Thats 400 btu's. in 20 minutes. If your car gets 20mpg driving 60mph then it consumes 115,000 btu's in 20 minutes. That 400 from Hydrogen is not going to amount to much. That may help. Let us know. In addition you might try an air stone. I am not sure how effective a check-valve would be. Anyway, it is worth doing in order to maybe save yourself from having to rebuild a popped bubbler. In the end, as the main flashback arrestor, I think the bubbler is sacrificial. More effort should be put into the design at the point of ignition. Stopping a flashback as it is occurring is inefficient and should be point of safety, not part of normal operation.
