Hmmm where are you from? Around here in the US Midwest, our funerals are still about 3 days, not including the week leading up the funeral with food, meetings, and preparations.

Well, from what I can remember, all of the funerals I've attended fully, (My grandma-1998, grandpa-2005, grand-uncle-2000, and my MOTHER's-1999) were all about 5 days long. I'm sure that's considered close enough to be a week. I'm not sure I've heard of Hmong funerals lasting shorter than this...

My grandfather was known as a legend in playing the Qeej instrument. He knows how to play over 100 hmong traditional stories. He was also known for his dance with the Qeej. Challengers from mountains afar came to battle him but no one could defeat him in Qeej battle dance to retain his title. He was also a famous shaman. When my grandfather past away in Thailand my father had a dream that the heaven's came and took him to play for the heaven's and earth.

I ask my older brother and he says we just don't have time for it here no more cause back in laos when there was no war yet funeral lasted a week depended on who and what age they are. he said that my gramps lasted a week! everyting you see in here we do it back then too. I forgot what the holdings are for but he did told me..

Kuv lub peb'' this sentence seems weird because you've used the two personal pronouns ''I -US'' and 'Lub'' is used for round objects. Oh one thing! When you say "Pom Niam"...In Hmong the "P" sounds similar to "B" sound in english. So it's pronounced like "Baw" with a sharp, fast falling tone(?????????). The tone for "Niam" is falling tone too but lower with a creaky ending. Almost like 3rd tone in Chinese, but without the rise at the end. The rest is great! I just had to tell you bout "Pom Niam" because they way you said it some may think it sounds like ????? Tabsis koj hais haib kawg lawm os!

I went over to a friend's house and heard Ying Moua talking to his dad about Khab Lis using one of his song without permission. Ying talk to the producer and they said for Ying to paid them the money they use for producing the CD'S AND DVD'S then they will discontinued selling Khab Lis's Album #6.

I was born in the U.S. and for the longest time, I could not understand Hmong songs or ceremony sayings until I took Hmong classes to read and sound out Hmong words. That helped me to hear the hmong words where as before it sounded like humming of sorts. I think it makes a difference when you know how to read Hmong.
