I've never found Hopper's paintings to be melancholic or lonely, perhaps these are subjective interpretations.. I've always found his work to be really relaxing and peaceful.. and very existential.. more so than any of the surrealists to me anyway.

This is a fabulous combination of music and art. Thank you! You can see where Hitchcock got his inspiration from. I was lucky enough to visit the Hopper exhibition at Tate Modern (London) in 2004 or 2005 (can't remember exact year). It was fantastic. First time his work had been exhibited in UK for 40 years I believe.

I came back and watched this again. If my guess is right, you did not just toss this together. It seems choreographed between images and music. Another thing, I wondered what music closest decribes the body of Hopper's work. In truth, no matter how I try, this level of art is not easily representational across mediums. That said, I think you knocked this one out of the park. Gets under your skin!

I have a copy of the revised 3rd draft july 24 1985 Blue Velvet screenplay. It says helium and it notes that Franks voice is supposed to reflect the changes from the helium. Such as (high voice) Baby wants to fuck.... Then Franks voice goes normal. It also says "don't look at me" as oppossed to "don't you fucking look at me" . It would have been interesting if they used helium.

You have combined two of my favourite artists in a really imaginative and haunting way. I will watch this many, many times. Just as both Hopper and the Blue Nile are so unique and creative in their ways, your piece of work and vision in putting this together and creating a narrative for the viewer that encapsulates to well the atmosphere of both (separated though they were by several decades)is a remarkable work in its own right. Well done. I have enjoyed the "Hats" album for many years. The Blue Nile was one of the many little known artists that I was exposed to while working at the Oakbrook Center (IL) Musicland. The job had it drawbacks but I certainly heard a lot of good music that I would never have heard on the radio or seen on MTV. The only Edward Hopper painting I was familiar with was Nighthawks which was in the 1970 Masterpiece Art Auction Game.

David is a classically trained singer--he said in an interview that his teachers wanted him to go into opera, but he wanted to pursue contemporary Christian music. He rarely utilizes his operatic voice when singing now because of the style of his music he chooses to sing. A similar example is Mariah Carey. She is also trained in opera, but you don't hear her using when singing pop music. It has nothing to do with David not being able to sing as well now--it is a stylistic choice.
