Damn the S great, extremely great. all of Ibanez guitars are good. I use AG95 and its just great. Great is all i can say about them. its the only thing u can really say to describe them.

Good luck to you. JEMs are definitely Ibanez's top piece. If not, watch eBay for good deals on RGs and be sure to ask for high quality photos detailing the condition of the neck at the joint, the neck plate, and the back of the headstock. Rock on.

The older Japanese made RGs from '87-'90s are very good guitars. But they come with two caveats: older thin paint jobs that chipped easily and neck warping. I remember those being problems for the Ibanez guys I knew. I played Kramers so I was spared :D. In any case, the older Wizard necks were prone to warping. These reissues are stronger than originals. If you can find a vintage in great condition with no neck warp, it'll be a better investment than anything new short of Prestige; maybe better.

Yes, I am fully aware that the reissues are only limited and they are above $400 anyways... But is there like any really good older model RG series that can be bought for under $400? I've seen some of the 90's Rg550 to be around 400-500 but I don't know if they're good.. :) I can easily find an Rg350DX for $250 btw... :0

synysterfan911, I just realized, considering the video you were just watching, you do realize that the RGs in the regular line are NOT the same as the RG550 Paul Gilbert is talking about right? The RG550 isn't made anymore, the closet thing to is available now is the RG770DX, which is a vintage reissue with original Wizard neck (the thinnest) and original Edge tremolo (better than my original first gen Floyd Rose). The pickups are better than in the regular line.

Definitely try eBay and see if you can get something vintage. Right now it's a buyer's market. At $399, you can buy the RG350DX. It's arguable the first proper RG. One you can build on. It's gorgeous too, and the Wizard II neck is thin. As I don't play S series, I can't compare. The pickups are good, and while you'll want to upgrade later, you probably already have some kind of modeling amp and effects chain so you can make the most of the stock pups. The Edge III trem is okay, but not great.

Haha fail! It's like a RG370DX but without a crappy edge III that wears out, made in Japan not Korea (=alot better craftsmanship), prestige neck, different pickups, different neck joint different fucking everything! If I'd compare this to a modern Ibanez it'd be the RG1570 which is pretty similar.

yhea, unplugged is as loud as any normal acoustic. heres a tip: if your buying this guiar, buy a kustom amp (50 watt) for 150. acoustic amps give it the classic look and sound, if you chose to use electric amp, youll get more of an electric sound. I love bands like Dashboard Confessional,Nirvana Unplugged, and some soft emo bands, great guitar for that music, even metal!

well guess what, the ZR trem (the one on this guitar) doesnt do that. it doesnt make all strings go out of tune when one breaks, which is badass. its still a pain to change strings, it is obviously floating, and the spring tension can be changed with a little knob, its easily the easiest trem i've used, and i've played a LOT of different types of trems. It's often even said to be better than a real floyd, you should have no problems.

I love the look of this guitar and has had excelletn reviews. im a bit wary of the whammy bar tho cos ive never had a floyd rose tremelo. With floating trems, all the strings go out of tune when 1 breaks and is a pain in the ass to change strings. how does the ZR trem work? Is it floating and does it have issues with changing strings e.g having to balance the bridge bases on string tension etc cos thats the only thing putting me off.

Real Tone? That is a matter of opinion. I would say that Steve Vai and Joe Satriani would have to disagree with your argument that Ibanez cant produce real tone. Why does everyone believe that only the guitar produces "good tone" There are a million different guitar, pickup, and amp combinations that will get you the tone you are looking for.
