Battery technology hasn't improved as much as processor or hard drive tech. Much larger hard drives need to spin faster to be of decent performance and the CPU's these days run at far far FAR higher speeds, so use more power. The FSB on the newer CPU's are faster than the actual clock speed on the ones you'd find back then.

Not neccesarily. The smaller process CPU's require less power to run at the same speed, example being the 65 and 45nm CPU's from Intel. A 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo running on 65nm will use more power than a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo running on 45nm. The 45nm it'll run faster too because of higher front side bus and larger cache.

leopard is incompatible with everything, and if you are buying a mac for bootcamp you are defeating the purpose when you could skip a step and get a pc. On top of that some hardware made for windows still doesn't work on a mac in bootcamp. everything is made for vista, vista can handle more hardware, pcs are customizable, that's all i need to say vista ultimate>leopard hands down

The only benifit i can see with a pc over mac would be gaming, only cause you can upgrade pc's easy. but i have a ps3 for that and i'd prefer to be spyware/virus free and do gaming on my ps3 and 52" LG rather than my 13" macbook... I love my macbook :)

I bought a clamshell dirt cheap off ebay last year, still works great at nearly 10 years old! Design classic. I bought my first comp in Dec 1999 - an iMac and it never gave me any problems and still works fantastic where as the windows vista laptop i got about 6 months ago crashes like a drunk driver and has had to have Windows reinstalled already! Mac computers may be expensive but theyre worth it :)

Hi It's Pin 28 on the chip.. if you're looking at the chip, there is a little dot on it to show where pin 1 is.. it's on the other side of the dot.. if you scrape a bit of the green covering on the logic board with a small screwdriver, you can re-flow that one pin..no shim required

I'm a service man...but far away from you, so no money interrests in this. I just say what's right: With this repair the iBook'll work fine for a few time. BUT! After using for months the problem'll come again. The solder'll crash under pressure and ibook's mainboard can damage. In my service I resolder and the power cable change(the cable causes the problem, it's on the chip and if you press the iBook's bottom, the power cable makes pressure on the chip and the solder'll crash a bit)

I used those silicon/rubber feet they sell to stick under lamps and so and not scratch wood furniture, worked like a charm! it's a temporary fix though, eventually the case will bend and the shim will be rendered ineffective again. Still, it helps during some time, and your iBook will revive. if you don't move it too much it may last several months at least...

What kind of black marks? If it is permanent marker, go down to your hardware store and buy some "denatured alcohol" it is usually in the paint section by the paint remover. It will take it right off.

Ubuntu è installato sul mio muletto, e l'ho provato anche su di un pentium duo quad q6600, le mie sono critiche fondate, non ho detto FA SCHIFO non scambiamo lucciole per lanterne, ho solo riportato cose vere, A ME PIACE ma non puoi negare le cose per partito preso, windows è e sarà probabilmente sempre un gradino sopra per il lavoro d'ufficio, le aziende pagano milioni per i programmi e in cambio hanno un'impronta PROFESSIONALE tutto è fatto bene, quello che c'è funziona!

Io ho configurato bene e in modo semplice la sk video il modem usb (dipende dal modello che hai) qualsiasi cosa, si adatta bene, io ho provato anche altre distro di linux ma mi trovo molto meglio con ubuntu, anche se ogni cosa ha sempre i suoi difetti, e io se devo essere onesto, sconsiglio ubuntu per chi deve usare software proprietario, io navigo, chatto e scarico dal p2p ed è il massimo per me...

Non era mia intenzione scriverlo piu' volte ha fatto tutto da solo. Comunque non sono d'accordo, vinicio parla di risparmio per le grandi aziende.. ma sara' davvero così? Non credo,basti pensare a quante ore di lavoro dovrebbe sprecare un tecnico per rendere competitivo UBUNTU copiando per ore e ore stringhe ti comando da terminale (con windows pigia su ESEGUI) in quanto alle ram e ai processori è presto spiegato,con UBUNTU non fai nente, con windows si.. calcolatrice contro parlare in pratica.

my ibook is 10.3.9 366mhtz g3 and 320 Mbs of ram. You can check it out in my videos. my emac is 10.5.5 with 1GB ram superdrive 1.25ghtz.Its maxed out to its maximum specs. It was the 2006 relese. i got it for $300.00AUS! Well at the start of when i watch vids on my ibook, it has a few missing frames but then it goes normle! Try updating Java and other stuff, that might help a little more!

Hey thanks for that, I was about to sell them a week after I bought them but you're right, Fire Fox streams the video heaps better than any other browser. I'm running 10.3.9 so I had to find a version 2 of the browser that would run on them but once I did the results were better than I expected. Still a lot of missed frames but watchable none the less. My girls should love them.

The flash player in the web browser is too slow. But if you rip the youtube video and save it to your hard drive, it will play fine in VLC player. I know it is a bit of a pain to do that, but it is the only way I've found to play them properly.
