Here's a very easy icosahedron by Heinz Strobl. For the strips use an A4 format paper and cut it in the middle lengthwise, do so to get 8 strips and then fold strips of 6 squares, the rest is one the video.

haha I was just kidding :) Yes the PHiZZ units are not the most design-worthy unit, but I love its simplicity and its stability. and yes I wish I could make videos of my stuff, but I have no camera :D I rely on people like you to inspire me to make new models. I've been doing this stuff for about 15 years now and within the last year I've discovered more than ever thanks to people on youtube. Thanks everyone! :)

Ah yes I've made the truncated Icosahedron with 270 sonobe modules as well x.x you think the phizz units are ugly??? :( I wonder if it would be cool to make a truncated icosahedron out of the Arabesque units...those units are like hurricane-proof its so stable..

Very sorry for not responding soon enough. No, these are not sonobe modules, and I don't remember what this module is called. Difference: Sonobe units are made from one origami, and a unit has 45 and 135 degree corners. The unit I used is made from two origamis, and a unit has 60 and 120 degree corners.

and yes the modules for this have a reverse, too. But it's possible to make other shapes without using the reversed module.

Thanks!!!!!!! Yes I can try to help, but you need to fold alot of pieces, which takes alot of time(depending on which module you're going to make). If you have plenty of time, I can send a picture about the module design. First try folding the pieces. You can learn how to make the pieces from a video titled "(HtM*Tetrahedron) Origami". I thought up this puzzle in the early 80s. However I never made one until 2005. In that time others had made them, most notably Jurgen Brandt who was almost certainly the first to. Also known by some as Icosaminx though that name has been used for a number of other puzzles including one of mine.

I use 4 balloons to make this icosahedron. In the design, I use 6 doubled edges. It's easier than the 3-balloon icosahedron since each balloon only has 9 segments compared to 12.

COOL!!! It's not a stellated dodecahedron but much better ... a kind of spiked truncated icosahedron (or icosidodecahedron)or "hairy buckyball" as I named it ;) I can see 5 rings surrounded by 6 rings (as indicated in your sketch). I made something similar with tornillo units just a week ago (see my vids :D). I prefer the more pointy Tornillo unit and as I believe you have to fold paper in 3 for the units you have used which I don't like either. Excellent job!!!
