I saw the stooges on my 18th birthday, Jun 22 1967, at the Grande ballroom in Detroit..the headline acts were Blue Cheer and the MC5... Blue cheer was late, so Iggy and the Stooges opened with "I just want to be your dog"... first time I ever saw or heard a guitar through full Marshall stacks...blew me away! I only knew Iggy as the guy who used to ride his high handle bar bike through the alley behind my apartment; on stage he was a real freak and scary as hell; Ron, RIP, brother..

[cont.] Being a Punk era veteran, I'd always known instinctively that Punk Rock began in Ann Arbor, Michigan. But it only took a few minutes into "Loose" that night in 2007 to have that epiphany loud and clear at 95 dB. The Stooges are clearly Ground Zero for Punk Rock. It was sooooo obvious. Ron Asheton's guitar slab sound, Scott Asheton's straight ahead thud and Iggy's vocals and stage antics were the blueprint, even more than the Velvets. R.I.P. Ron. You were a true one off.

I was a few years too young to see the original Stooges incarnation, but I caught the reconstituted edition in 2007. They blew my head off. Have you ever laughed - not in a funny-haha way - at something just because it was so ridiculously great it was just retarded? That's what The Stooges did to me that night.

I agree, PG1986ko. The interviewer is very respectful of where Iggy is coming from, even though he admittedly doesn't understand where Iggy is coming from. The interviewer looks so square, and Iggy looks so dangerous, the juxtaposition is astonishing. I'm not even sure Iggy knew how significant this interview was, but it is absoulutely riveting for its entire running time. I ask myself, "What other TV interview have you seen that was this interesting?" The answer: none, ever.

Both Hendrix and Zeppelin were not shy about what they took from other musicians, and I'd love to hear you criticize them.
