Don't judge JD in the last few years of his life too harshly,flower01. He suffered badly from chronic bilpolar depression & in the mid 90s was in terrible grip of it. I saw JD in concert many times(1st in 1983) & he was a generous,affable,funny performer who'd do 3 hrs + until his voice gave out. I saw him in 1996,& he was like a different person . He looked deeply depressed,heavy & ill. He was in recovery in 97,&cheering up. I'm sure he'd have performed more like his old,awesome self in time
