My belief is that remaking a film detracts attention from the original. Moreover, people rated the remake higher than the original. At one point it was even called "Japanese". I guess that doesn't really matter though does it? Films like the Matrix Revolutions (an American film) reach worldwide acclaim, but Infernal Affairs an amazing film in its own right - is ignored (mostly) in the America. It isn't right. Plus the acting was top notch. ( Francis Ng ) did a good job on Hau. Even if he the triad boss, you cant help to feel sad for him when he died. He's after all a guy that will do anything for his family, he trust his blood siblings and its only near his death before he discover Yan a mole . I really like IA2, I thought it was bull at first since Im semi crazy about IA 1. Now I think its a masterpiece, it just manage to connect to me in all levels. Cheers Cusson. IA was brilliant executed. There are small details like u can see Edison is in love with his female boss, even at the start. I like the theme of IA alot. In such a complex world, in a period of intense instability, it simple beliefs like ' I want to be a good guy' that keep us intact and move on.

infernal affairs 2 is easily the best in the trilogy. i find the story to be much more engaging and you really get to know the characters much better. i feel in the same regard, infernal affairs was rushed. the absence of tony leung and andy lau is definitely noticeable but overall its a well acted and brilliantly executed picture, regardless of the country or language.

I never paid much attention to Infernal 2 or 3, the whole trilogy is excellent... but after following 2 more closely, i'd have to say I narrowly favor 2 over 1. It is even better on the third or fourth watch. Amazing movie.

There's an even better and more gripping trailer on the DVD I have - it kind of start of like 1991 - It was the best of times and also the worst... The whole themes of fate and destiny and the cycle of violence set in motion in 1991 sort of get's captured nicely in that trailer as I remember. This was such a well written film. Sorry -I'm American and the Departed can't hold a candle to this version - It's like the sloppy seconds saying.

I know they seriously need to leave Oldboy the fuck alone it is a masterpiece of cinema and nothing else can be done to it to improve its value. Justin Lin (the prospect to remake Oldboy) isn't even confident if he is the right person to remake the film. Also it would be hard to stay with the story line as things in the movie are to taboo for an American remake. Lets cross our fingers and hope it gets scrapped to pieces and left in the dirt for good.
