This is exactly the worst thing that can be done at this juncture, because now that it's started, Paulson will claim it is almost working and if congress doesn't fund another $2 trillion right away, then it will have wasted $850 billion and a systemic collapse will surely be right around the corner. The problem is, there isn't enough trees in Oregon to print the money to buy all the troubled assets because more and more are becoming troubled every day. Thank Bush for making us socialists.

The surge failed in part because the additional 30,000 troops was to bring peace (succeeded) while the Iraqi people formed their own gov & legislature, & secured their own country (failed). The timeline Obama suggested was to put pressure on Iraq to act within a certain amount of time, so that we can withdraw our troops. The Iraqi war is illegal & immoral ~ we should have never been there in the first place, now we must hope that Obama makes things right.

Paulson is such a fucking crook. He is only concerned with bailing out his criminal friends on Wall Street.
By: nowayjose470. on 26 Nov 08, 12:13:20
Obama's voting record shows he is a con. He voted for No Chimp Left behind, the Patriot Act extension, FISA, the FISA extension, and several troop increases in Iraq while promising to oppose them all.

Well doesnt that beat all? Im glad the Democrats and Republicans have finally found something that brings them together. That being giving the next three generation a huge debt so that all of their real political constituents can pig out while the getting is good. Kind of makes you teary-eyed to see such cooperation.

Citi group has just rec'd a blank check by Bush! He's willing to bail out the white collar but refuses to assist the blue collar. Nothing surprises me from this incompetent idiot, nothing. When 3M Americans lose their jobs, I hope they know it was compliments of the Bush admin.

7.7 trillion in bailouts so far ! the companies are not worth that much sweep them into the dumpster and bring in Canadian banks with Canadian dollars backed by resources

"I believe that banking institutions are more? dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered." --- Thomas Jefferson 1802

I knew it, but if Obama as president did not do it, the Democrat controlled Congress and the Status Quo were going to push it past even him or a weak Republican President like McCain. Citigroup was too was international, 200 million costumers in 106 countries and over 300 billion at risk to let go down. The American people were cleverly fooled by the Democrats's "Change You Can Believe In" campaign, taking advantage of a weak & unorganized Republican ticket and Party as well. Thank you, Bush.

The signs are amassing that Obama put a political con job over on the American people. With Robert Rubin on his side during his first photo opportunity after the election, he signaled to Wall Street that his vote for the $750 billion bailout of those speculators and crooks was no fluke (Rubin was Clintons financial deregulation architect in 1999 as Secretary of the Treasury before he became one of the hugely paid co-directors tanking Citigroup!) "Prepare to be disappointed with Obama!" (Nader)

Yes we have to produce. Right on! Out with antiquated Keynesian economics. In with cutting edge Austrian theory.
By: nowayjose470. on 24 Nov 08, 22:32:04
If we leave it alone, it will be a deflationary depression. Bad, but will affect only 20% of Americans and in the long run deflation will save the middle class. The depression would last only a few months. Inflationary depression hurts everyone and will last years. I say welcome the recession. It is needed. What we don't need is government doing exactly what you said which will make the problem ten times worse.
By: richi1173. on 24 Nov 08, 22:26:11
I agree dude, there is no solution out of this besides the depression. I hope we can learn out of this that production, not consumption, is the way the world works.
By: nowayjose470. on 24 Nov 08, 22:20:09
richi: can you say hitting the nail on the head? I can. You hit it. And if we can't borrow, we'll create it out of thin air with our printing presses. Here comes inflationary depression: Endgame.
By: richi1173. on 24 Nov 08, 22:14:19
Its not even money that we have, its money that the US government is borrowing. In the end, it will doom us all, because all of our assets which are based on dollars will be worth jack squat compared to those abroad. In addition, it will inflate the price of our assets to appalling levels which will not allow us to sell, just like it happened in the housing bubble. As the consumer keeps cutting consumption and not producing, we are doomed.

Criminal ideed, Mike. You are being forced to put your wealth into an asset that has no value. Here is the bailout scorecard: Corporations whose malinvestment caused the problem: 15 trillion The victims? 0 Any questions?

You are right, this is the same company, that ripped off my mother on her home equity loan with a 14.4% interest rate, they made their bed they should have to lay in it.

Criminal.
By: nowayjose470. on 24 Nov 08, 10:18:28
These assets are illiquid because they have no value. You cannot put value into assets that have no value! Besides, the correction is inevitable. If we continue to try to artificially inflate those assets, the worse the inevitable correction will be.
By: nowayjose470. on 24 Nov 08, 10:02:31
The taxpayer. Billions of taxpayer dollars will be at significant risk. Yes the Fed will print money and the inflation tax effect will kick in which creates a trickle up economy. Poor and middle class to the ultra rich. Inflation benefits only the super wealthy. Let it deflate. In the long run it will save the middle class.
By: nowayjose470. on 24 Nov 08, 09:45:56
This infuriates me bdeloney1999. The absolutely incompetent and ultra high risk investments they made over the years and we are going to leave them in charge and give them a blank check bailout. Government has agreed to absorb 90% of their future losses. We are giving companies all the incentiv in the world to malinvest in high risk assets because they know that we the taxpayer will be forced to bail them out.

This is sick. Before they beg for tax payers money, they should ask those CEOs and excutive to give back all of their cash bonuses.
