Nice choice! Though I own an IS250, and I have to say there is about 10 times more luxury than power hahaha Not a slow car, but by no means fast. Oh, and for the love of God avoid the tires that come on the 17" wheels! They are JUNK. If you can, get one of the 18" options available.

today I was going car shopping and my choices were: '08 Honda Accord coupe v6, '07 Infiniti G35 coupe, '05 Porsche Boxster(I personally hated this one), and '08 Lexus IS250. Yep you guessed it, I'm definitely getting the IS250. It is so much fun to drive and the interior is so well done. There is as much luxury as there power.

Well many people underesitmate japanese machines. THe market will not drop the very expnesive engine on the cars sicne the car itself with a decent-above decent engine is pretty pricey. This is how Mustangs/Corvettes get smoked, when japanese cars unleash their true power with the right equipment they were neglected with. 4GRFSE is talking about the 1st generation IS300, im assuming, because that car can be dropped with a N/A Supra engine and smoke...

first and foremost the cts-v just came out a couple months ago; in all fairness, i did not know about it. at the same time, to compare a cts-v to an M3, RS4, C63amg or an IS-F is a joke even with it's speed. why? it's a cadillac. don't kid yourself and you would know why auto reviewers could not compare a cadillac to a bmw, audi, merc, or lexus. i'm a nissan and porsche fan but faster doesn't mean shit when no one will buy it, aka a cadillac other than the escalade

The paddleshift on is250 can be used when the gearbox is set to sport mode, which pushes the rpm to red. in fully automatic you will only get up to 4-5k rpm before it changes.if you select a gear with the paddleshift, or with the tiptronic stick,it will hold the gear until red, or below sutible speed for the selected gear.hope that answers your questions.

The car is still clutchless. With most if not all cars with paddleshifting/tiptronic shifting, there is an option of fully automatic or you can switch to the paddles. Basically, you get to pick when the car shifts without dealing with clutching/timing. Does anyone know if it will automatically shift up anyway if you get to redline?

I have a Lexus is 250 as well. You can get it in automatic or manual. The automatic also comes with paddle shifter so you can use it as if it were a manual car (haven't tried it yet). My Lexus IS250 is a 07 version and Lexus is coming out with the is-f! I would've got angry at Lexus but its much more expensive than the 250 so its ok.

Ya there is a power button, better known as ECT, its a switch and it holds your gears for higher RPM's and offers stronger acceleration. But i agree about the paddle shifting being delayed, you have to do it early in order to get it right...

The powew ect allowed the engine to revv higher allowing for slightly increased acceleration in the automatic mode.
