Wow, this really brings back memories. My dad took me to Islip Speedway every Saturday for many many many years. We sat in the same place very time. We brought a thermos of ovaltie a bucket of Chicken Delight (no longer exists) and a blanket for when it was chilly. I remember seeing the Chitwood Brothers Daredevil show many times and of course the largest Demolition Derby that was shown on ABC Wide World Of Sports. I now take my son to Riverhead and we sit in the same spot as me and my dad.

I've read a little about Islip racetrack. Since it was 1/5 mile, it basically means it's like picking a NHL hockey rink (200' x 85') pour asphalt around it and that's prettty much it?

I was fortunate that my father raced at Islip about 36 yeas ago. He drove the #32 car in the figure 8's. I was hoping to see if there is any footage. But this sure brings back some fun times. I remember the beer guy who would open about 5-6 beers at a time and and place the full can in the plastic cup. it was always a perfect pour. I marveled in his ability at 5 y/o.

When I was a kid I lived a stone throw away from Islip speedway (early sixties to late seventies). During my life I only watched the races a couple of times, although my next door neighbors, the Salemetoes raced a modified pinto at the track every week. Now theres no more race track. The place was leveled in the early eighties. The area is now home to The Silver Lake Cookie factory along with some other businesses.

it sure was I lived near that speedway and in Islip terrace from about 1959 to about 1963 and could hear the cars run at night. watched all the figure 8 and demolition derbys held there and seen a few fig 8 racing on the wide world of sports in the 6o's, Then we moved to PA, When i was able to drive i found out i lived next to another closed and forgotten speedway Langhorne Speedway torn down and gone before 1972 think cars landing in yards killed it..lol

Classic my man! This stuff is absolute gold. My dad took me there every weekend it didn't rain from 72-75. I remember ABC wide world of sports being there seveal times and a few Permatex 200 races being on TV. Who's holdin out on that stuff.

I lived in Islip terrace from 1967 to 1986. I would go to the speedway all the time. My Uncle Bernie Cusack raced there I think his number was 43. i too use to go to the pits after the race. Till this day I still love cars and racing. My Uncle died today and I was just remembering all the good time I had at the sppedway when I was like 5 yrs old to. Now my son who is 3 is so into cars to he loves the "speed" channel I hope he races. Do you have any pictures?

My pops used to race the #32 Liberty Electric car back in the day. I had to be 5 and i go every saturday to watch my father race in the figure 8's. I remember hanging out in the "pits' after the races. the other drivers let me sit in thier cars. i was hoping to find the ABC wide world of sports video that captures my father flipping over 4x then bursting into flames. I was hoping to it to him in preparation for a family trip to the Daytona Coke Zero 400 this year.

the late 70's until the closed, my family was there every Saturday. I even have the last bumper sticker from 1985 in my scrapbook. Somewhere my bro and I have super8 films of Islip. We used to help our friend Bill with his car. Islip is a legacy to Long Island illustrious racing history. I still can't believe 22 yrs have gone by that quickly. THANK YOU for this video montage :)

Depends on where on Long Island. From the farthest point, Montauk, it's likely 3 hours on a good day. From Islip airport, it's probably just over an hour, without traffic. one of the best renditions ofthis piece i have heard. watch diction...i feel like it comes and goes throughout the song. also measure 62 when sopranos say "Ahhh....ma" i wish the firsts would sing a bit louder so we really get those pitches. also measure 65- i wish there was more of an accent on the D in sway'd...lastly, on the final pitch i would definately have a few of your sopranos singing the high Db. it would be lovely. awesome job!

What a great sound and control for a high school group. Excellent intonation most of the way through. Gorgeous acoustics from that chapel/cathedral. One of the best high school groups I've heard on You Tube. Most sing out of tune and have terrible blend and balance problems. You guys sound like a polished collegiate group with incredibly mature voices for your ages. Keep up the good work.

Very well done. This did not sound like high school vocalists, but rather much more mature singers. The choir members will be able to do this for the rest of their lives and will make wonderful contributions to the ensembles they will take part in.

slightly "pitchy" in places near the beginning, but they always fix themselves (the ability 2 tune 2 one another is evidence of a very good choir). The 'Amen' section is beautiful. overall, they have an incredibly good blend and a very warm sound. this choir is not something you see every day- especialy in high school. I only know of two: this one, and my high school in Howard County MD- Oakland Mills High.
