English speakers can't understand the polite form in European languages. We dropped the polite form (Thou) centuries ago tho it can still be found in Shakespeare and the Bible. In Italian, as in most European languages, one begins with the polite, formal, third person form of Lei. This is for business and commercial speaking, church, and with older or official people. One continues in Lei until the recipient asks for informal or second person. How many close friends can a tourist have?

Later, the Normans (from Northern France) came in and liberated Sicily and Southern Italy. The Longobards (Germans) settled in the North. Later the Spaniards took control of the South and the Austrians of the North. Then, only in 1861 Italy was unifed once again. That's why in Italy you can find either people with very pale skin, blonde hair and blue eyes or people with dark hair and eyes and olive skin. I don't know why people in the audience are smiling. At parts it sounded like a five year old banging on the piano while a professional pianist plays the melody in the upper register. Great technical ability obviously, but as far as piano arrangements go...not my cup of tea. I'll take his Turkish March any day of the week over this.
