just recently got into Lynch they are amazing hazuki was good in deathgaze and wish he was still in that band But wow he really came back strong with LYNCH. Funni Dir en grey is the first band i listened to as well. I always liked japanese culture though even from a young age but when i found out the the Japanese could rock just like the rest of the western world and other places in asia i WAS like DAMN! It has to be an abstraction OF something that can't necessarily be expressed as well representationally - Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut. for example, is similarly surreal and non-linear, but in the end makes some very complex, but also very clear suggestions about love in contemporary culture. Wonderful film. Lynch never reveals a discernible intent for doing things the way he does.

His narrative's are not 'nonsensical' they just abide by a different structure than your everyday main stream film, every scene is connected by feeling and his films are united that way. That he could make a film as damn powerful as Inland Empire proves that the practice of meditation certainly helps the artist to catch the big ideas, deep down that really mean something.
