Hmm... isn't Great Britain our (USA) strongest ally in nearly every war? Seems like a pretty dumb argument guys... ...but now my two cents. British infantry and Special Forces are some of the best trained in the world. They are at least as well trained as America's. America has three huge advantages that proved decisvive vs the Germans in wwII though. They are 1) worlds most powerful navy. Don't even argue, it is a fact. 2) worlds most powerful Air Force. this was a good movie but the UK movie threads, though having an average nuking scene unlike TDA, threads really hit the post nuclear war effects on the head, this movie only showed directly after and not even into the nuclear winter despite seeing more clouds towards the end of the movie. but imo they really should make another movie like this and really go all out on it you'll be surprised how many people dont get how deadly a nuclear war would be... or will be!

Absolutely. When the British do something like this, they sensationalize it less. The visuals are less spectacular because of the BBC's budget--or lack thereof--but they make up for it by just being really solid with the performances. Here it's the complete opposite. I had no problem watching this, but "Threads" made me sick. It was just too hard to take. It made you believe that's how it would really be after a nuke went off.

This movie always terrified me. I live in northeast Kansas (where The Day After was filmed) and recognize many of the landmarks. I found out a while back that my wife's grandpa helped build parts of the set when it was in production. Still, this scares the crap out of me. Threads is also very good.
