Did anyone see the documentary on TV a couple of years ago ? Made Saxon look shit...following 'em round the UK club circuit. What a crock of shit !.. they are amazing live. been a fan for years and seen them twice this year and going to see them live on St Georges Day in 2009...cant wait !

Yeah...I didn't know who they were of course at the start,I was sitting up on the balcony,so it was quite hard to hear at times,but I also enjoyed his tribute too. Ahh,okay. It did, also Danko himself was obnoxious as hell, which was funny to the extent where he decided to call himself delicious xD I really liked his tribute to the deceased rock legends...Cliff Burton, Dimebag, Lynott and the Ramones especially. And no i didn't i was at the right of the stage and the bag was thrown from the left. Hilarious though...It's still not on their site yet (like Biff said it would be) but it was great of him to wear it for the rest of the set.

This actually could even be a little bit later, possibly even the mid-80s. Crowds went crazy for Saxon and their MCs back then. And no, this is not considered "rocksteady", oxalicman,but would be considered early dancehall. You're not? Coxone was around back in the late sixties - even my parents used to go Coxone. Then Jah Shaka took over as 'the baddest' from mid-seventies onwards. Saxon (and I personally know Dennis Rowe, Musclehead, etc) were good and very exciting for a younger teenage generation of ravers in the 80s. Respect to Saxon for bringing on good DJs and Maxi Priest, but to compare them Saxon with Coxone is laughable.

One thing any one who studies the history of dancehall and Toasting must have to acknowlege that Saxon Dj's raised the standard of toasting to another level. If you doubt me (smile) Check out most of DJ music from JA between 1980 to 1984 and you will not believe how poor in construction their lyrics was compare to Papa Levi and Tipper Irie. Only later on Peter Metro and Johnny Ringo who adapted the Saxon style,matched them. So give saxon the world of respect they deserve.... Big Up !!!!

Nah not at all. This drummer is still with them but not their best, that was Pete Gill who joined the band in '76 but they were known as Son of A Bitch back then, they toured extensively in the North b4 they were signed to Carrere in '79. Pete was with them until 1981/2. He was an amzing drummer and ya know what, I saw them play their 1st gig with him - he made that band come alive, what a rhythm section - Pete Gill & Steve Dawson, although, Steve & Graham were the founders of the original band

Thanks for adding this! Seeing this in 2008 they truly dressed like fools, but "make no mistake": Even today this holds up! It�s a brilliant track from a great band. On the lyrical side Saxon was one of the best bands of the NWOBHM and this is in my humble opinion their Masterpiece!

I have to back ajsz08 on this one, unhappy Frenchy does knock every Saxon video on YouTube. This guy has Billy Idol and Tom Waits stored in his favorites, he's obviously at the wrong show here. I couldn't imagine watching Tom Waits videos all day and leaving neg. comments. Frenchy is sad and unhappy in life and he seems to use YouTube as a way to vent his anger. The Lyre is a copy of the Sutton Hoo British museum Lyre, the tuning is GABCDE, this scale was written down in the 10th century by hucbold, and is still found on kanteles in the baltic region played in a very similer way as the lyre today.
