for those of you missing HELMET, John Stanier is in a great Australian band called The Mark Of Cain. They have a Helmet sound to them ( but were around before Helmet ) Their earlier stuff has a sort of Joy Division sound to the vocals with a Helmet feel to the music. "Battlesick" is a great album to start with. One of my favorite bands ever.

in comparison to all of the groups former bands, yes. They've basically took what each of them were good at and genetically modified it into one big chuck of hip-hop-rave-rock. personally i think ty should step up on the vocals and carry it more if they are going to go that route. His lines in the ending section of mirrored(i think) are very good, haunting. They need more of this to pull it toghether.

Best live band I've ever seen without question, I saw them in Bristol last year and it was the best gig I've ever been to. I've been going to gigs for about 17 years and seen all sorts of stuff, Pavement/Sonic Youth, Massive Attack with Portishead and practically all of The Battles Warp stablemates. Nothing ever prepared me for the Battles live experience. Absolutely amazing live band and anyone who says otherwise has something in their ears:-)

Try to listen without thinking notes but sounds.Def not a band for everyone spesh if you dont listen to alot of this more freeform less traditional style of making music but they make fantastic feelings and moods in their songs.

This is most certainly a very good band. I don't yet know much about them but I like them so far. Warp is a great label. Interesting the way the drummer has the kit set up. How high can a crash cymbal be lol

I was lucky enough to film them (or photograph, my mind gets fuzzy) on the MS Stubnitz in Newcastle in 2005, you really don't believe the things they do on stage, musicianship-wise. All the simultanious guitar tapping and keyboard playing and polyrythmic stuff. Airtight, rocking and insane. A must, must see!
